Lotto America Is Coming to Mississippi

The Mississippi Lottery is to introduce Lotto America to the Magnolia State, giving players a new draw game to enjoy that is pitched in between Match 5 and Powerball or Mega Millions.

Lotto America will officially launch in Mississippi on Sunday, May 12, with tickets going on sale at retailers throughout the state. The first drawing you can enter is the next day on Monday, May 13.

The game is being brought to MIssissippi after officials recognized its success in other states, while they also listened to what players were looking for.

Jeff Hewitt, the Mississippi Lottery President, said: “Lotto America is popular in many other states. As we noted player feedback, many players mentioned offering a draw-style game with a jackpot in between Match 5 and Powerball or Mega Millions. Lotto America is the perfect addition to our portfolio.”

Lotto America initially ran between 1988 and 1992, before being replaced by Powerball. It came back in a new format in October 2017, available in 13 states.

It is a ‘double-matrix’ lottery in the vein of Mega Millions or Powerball. You have to select five main numbers from 1 to 52, and a Star Ball from 1 to 10.

To win the jackpot, you need to match all the numbers, but there are several other ways to get prizes. In fact, you are guaranteed a payout as long as you match the Star Ball.

It costs just $1 per play, but you can also select the All Star Bonus option to increase the value of any non-jackpot prizes. EZ-Match will also be available in Mississippi.

Drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday night at approximately 9:15 p.m. CT. MSLottoNumbers.com will publish the winning numbers shortly afterwards.
